mojimoji ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Google account information (email, name, profile photo): Used for user authentication and identification. Retained until account deletion.
Nickname: Used for in-app identification. Retained until account deletion.
Selected emoji and background color: Used for profile display. Retained until account deletion.
Marker content (optional text): Used for display on markers. Retained until account deletion.
Photos (optional): Used for display on markers. Retained until account deletion.
Emoji comments and replies: Used for social interaction. Retained until account deletion.
Purchase history: Used for transaction records and customer support. Retained as required by law (typically 5 years).
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Location data (at marker creation only): Used for marker placement on map. Retained until account deletion.
Device token (FCM): Used for push notification delivery. Retained until account deletion.
Device information (type, OS version): Used for service optimization and troubleshooting. Retained until account deletion.
Usage logs (marker count, access time): Used for service improvement. Retained for 30 days.
Payment information: Used for processing in-app purchases. Handled by app store.
2. How We Collect Information
We collect information through Google Sign-In during account registration; when you create markers with optional content and photos; when you leave emoji comments or replies; when you make in-app purchases; and automatically during your use of the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
Service Provision: We use your information to enable marker creation and display on the map; display your content (text, photos) on markers; process and display emoji comments and replies; send push notifications about activity on your markers; and process in-app purchases for emoji packages.
Service Improvement: We use your information to analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience; develop new features and services; and fix bugs and optimize performance.
Safety and Security: We use your information to prevent abuse and detect abnormal activities; enforce our Terms of Service; and protect users from harmful content.
Communication: We use your information to send service-related notifications and updates; and respond to customer support inquiries.
4. Photo and Content Storage
4.1 Photos
Photos uploaded to markers are stored on our secure servers. Photos are retained until you delete the marker or your account. We do not use your photos for any purpose other than displaying them on your markers. Photos are not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service.
4.2 Text Content
Optional text content on markers is stored on our servers. Content is retained until you delete the marker or your account.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
User profile information: Retained until account deletion. Deleted immediately upon account deletion.
Markers (emoji, text, photos): Retained until you manually delete them or delete your account. All markers are deleted upon account deletion.
Comments and replies: Retained until the marker owner deletes the marker or you delete your account.
Location data: Retained with associated markers until account deletion.
Purchase records: Retained as required by law (typically 5 years).
Usage logs: Automatically deleted after 30 days.
Deletion Methods: Electronic files are permanently deleted using methods that prevent recovery. All data is purged from our systems and backup servers within 30 days of deletion request.
5.1 Account Deletion
How to Delete Your Account:
To delete your mojimoji account and all associated data:
1. Open the mojimoji app
2. Navigate to Settings (⚙️ icon in the top right corner)
3. Scroll to the "Account" section
4. Tap "Delete Account"
5. Confirm the deletion
You can also request account deletion by emailing us at mojimoji.app@gmail.com.
Data Deleted Upon Account Deletion:
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently deleted:
- User profile information (nickname, selected emoji, background color)
- All markers you created (emoji, text content, photos)
- All comments and replies you posted
- Location data associated with your markers
- Device tokens for push notifications
- Device information
Data Retained After Account Deletion:
The following data may be retained for legal compliance:
- Purchase records: Retained for 5 years as required by tax and commerce laws
- Usage logs: Automatically deleted after 30 days (if not already deleted)
All other data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request.
6. In-App Purchases and Payment Information
6.1 Payment Processing
All payments are processed through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment card information. Payment information is handled according to the respective app store's privacy policy.
6.2 Purchase Records
We maintain records of your purchases (items purchased, date, amount) for customer support and legal compliance. Purchase records are retained as required by applicable tax and commerce laws.
7. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
With Other Users: Your nickname and emoji are visible to other users. Content you post (markers, comments) is visible to other users. Your exact location is not shared; only markers on the map are visible.
With Service Providers: See Section 8 for details on third-party services.
Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government request. To protect rights, safety, or property.
8. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate our Service:
Google Firebase: Used for data storage, authentication, and push notifications. Processes account info, markers, and device tokens.
Google Cloud Storage: Used for photo storage. Processes uploaded photos.
Google Cloud Platform: Used for cloud infrastructure. Processes all service data.
Google Maps: Used for map display. Processes location data for markers.
Google Play / Apple App Store: Used for in-app purchases. Handles payment processing.
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Portability: You may request a copy of your personal data. You may request your data in a portable format.
Correction and Deletion: You may update your profile information in the app. You may delete your markers at any time. You may delete your account and all associated data.
Control: You may manage notification preferences in app settings. You may control location permissions through device settings. You may choose whether to add optional content to markers.
How to Exercise Your Rights: Through the app (Settings > Account Management) or via email at mojimoji.app@gmail.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
10. Location Information
10.1 Collection
We collect location data ONLY when you create a marker. We do NOT track your location in the background. Location permission can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
10.2 Use
We use location data for placing your markers on the map. Location data is used solely for marker placement.
10.3 Protection
Your exact location is associated only with your markers. Location data is retained with your markers until you delete them or your account. We do not share your precise location with third parties.
11. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under 14 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we discover that a child under 14 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information may contact us at mojimoji.app@gmail.com.
12. Security Measures
Technical Measures: We use encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (AES-256). We maintain secure photo storage with access controls. We implement Firebase Security Rules for database access control. We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Organizational Measures: Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel only. We provide regular privacy and security training. We maintain incident response procedures.
13. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including South Korea and the United States (where our service providers operate). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes at least 7 days before they take effect through in-app notifications. For material changes, we will provide additional notice via email or push notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

16. Additional Rights for Specific Regions

For Users in California (USA): You have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You may request disclosure of personal information collected, used, or sold. We do not sell your personal information.
